El Salvador...

Many thanks for so much interest and prayers on this awesome opportunity! I will receive much more details in the coming weeks, but for now, here is a general overview from Compassion on the trip. Please pray for Alicia and her family. I pray all will work out for our day together. She will not know of my trip until 2 weeks prior. I can't wait to spend the day with her and am trying to learn some espanol! I will post some info on Alicia and her family soon.
Itinerary
Day 1: Our Journey Begins
Monday, Nov. 3: Our journey begins with a brief orientation to help us get to know each other and prepare ourselves for what God has in store for us. We arrive in San Salvador in the late evening in time to get a good night of rest and prepare for the life-changing week ahead.

Day 2: Expand Your Heart
Tuesday, Nov. 4: We will begin the day with worship and devotions with our country staff at the Compassion El Salvador office as well as an overview of the history and culture of this unique country. After lunch we will bring some order and definition to our service project and ministry with the children that will take place during our Compassion student center visits. Then, we will explore some of the local tourist areas before returning to the hotel to rest and relax.

Days 3-5: Experience Compassion in action
Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Friday, Nov. 7: With our hearts stirred to put our faith into action, we will visit and minister to the children who attend several Compassion-assisted child development centers in the area. We will visit both urban and rural centers to see the differences and similarities between how poverty affects the children and their families and how the incredible staff that works with these children implements the ministry of Compassion. As a team we will minister to these children through drama, worship, games, and arts and crafts and provide memories to last a lifetime. In between ministry activities with the children we will learn more about how your ministry works and the lasting impact it makes in the life of every Compassion child. For a more vivid portrait of poverty, we will experience "a day in the life of a Compassion child" as we spend an extended time working alongside the families of the children attending these centers just as they do day after day after day.

Day 6: Connecting With the Child
Saturday, Nov. 8: You'll spend a very special day filled with laughter, hugs, stories and fun with the incredible child or children you sponsor. The Compassion staff has planned a day that you and your sponsored child will never forget. Tonight, with the memories of the day still fresh in your heart, you'll meet several remarkable young people who represent the thousands of children whose lives have been forever affected by the ministry of Compassion.

Day 7: A Day of Rest and Reflection
Sunday, Nov. 9: After a week of immersing ourselves in the beauty and grandeur of this beautiful country, tasting a bit of the culture through our visits to the Compassion student centers, and investing in the lives of children, we will need some time to unwind, reflect and consider what impact this experience will have when we return. We will travel together to a local Compassion church partner to worship with our Salvadoran brothers and sisters. Upon our return to our hotel we will have the option of enjoying the amenities of the hotel, shopping for unique handmade craft items at an authentic outdoor market, or additional specific sightseeing activities.
